Jackie's Biography

Jackie Haugen is a longtime resident of Highland Village and retired RN. She retired after 53 years of Nursing. Jackie worked at MCL for 25 years; 15 yrs in ICU and 10 in Perianesthesia. She retired in 2018. She has been painting for over 30 years and has been a member of The Visual Art League (VAL) of Lewisville since the early 1990’s. Currently, she is serving on the Board of Directors for VAL. Even working full time, she attended The University of North Texas (UNT) as a watercolor major for over 10 years. She has been program chair and chairperson of the paid workshops for VAL since 2019. She loves meeting new members and enjoys the company of many long-time friends within the organization. She says “Seeing our organization grow gives me much pride and joy.” She is also a member of the Visual Art Society of Texas, Urban Sketchers, and Southwestern Watercolor in Dallas. She has been in numerous galleries in the Country and currently has paintings hanging in Indigo Art and Framing in Flower Mound. She has won many awards and has a permanent installation in The Grand in Lewisville. She now enjoys teaching her grandchildren to paint every opportunity she gets, and continues to take classes herself to grow her art.
